18.07.18 | Construction updatePiling operations by Cementation Skanska are progressing well and on target to conclude in July.
The structural contractor, Byrne Bros Formwork, has commenced work on site with the construction of the ground level slab and the first of four lift and stair cores. During the summer months they will continue work around the site at ground level. Following these works the bulk excavation for the basement will commence and the vehicle access and egress route will change so that vehicles enter the site from Halkin Street and exit via Grosvenor Crescent.
The first tower crane was erected in May, and there will be three more erected over July, August and September. Each tower crane will be erected over a weekend and will require road closures on Halkin Street or Grosvenor Crescent; all are being agreed and coordinated in advance with WCC and TfL.
The construction of the gantry and installation of the cabins above Grosvenor Place pavement have concluded and the lane closure has been removed. The cabins are now fully operational and provide; canteen, welfare and changing facilities for site operatives and management staff. Gantry and hoarding works have commenced along the Grosvenor Crescent pavement and will conclude later this month.
